Originally briefed as an architectural studio for a rural setting, the project responds to changing attitudes towards work following the COVID-19 pandemic. It proposes a more connected working environment, bringing professional life closer to landscape and everyday life while encouraging a healthier work/life culture.

The pavilion is conceived as a modular prefabricated structure, with CLT and Glulam components designed for off-site manufacture and efficient assembly on site. A raised floor minimises intervention to the ground and allows connection to existing infrastructure, with the potential for more independent systems such as solar energy and rainwater collection.

While originally designed as an architectural studio, the pavilion could be adapted for other uses including a creative or artist’s studio, home office, yoga or wellness retreat, or guest accommodation. Its modular construction allows the building to respond to changing requirements without fundamentally altering the design.

The project explores how modular construction, sustainable materials and a carefully considered spatial environment can create a different kind of studio — one that encourages interaction, connection and a healthier relationship between work and life.
